Fakarava Tahiti Vacations

Fakarava, a protected nature reserve, is an untouched world where nesting birds and marine life are both infinite and important.

The rich ecosystem is home to rare birds, plants and crustaceans while the rich diving sites are virtually untouched. Life along the shores is equally unique with quaint villages, old coral churches, and warm, welcoming people.

Fakarava Attractions

A pearl farm, the sea slug ("rori") smoke house-highly prized by Asian gourmets, the ancient village of Tetamanu with one of the first Catholic churches built in coral and dating from 1874.

Fakarava Activities

Snorkeling
Grab some fins and a snorkel mask and you'll experience a wide variety of colorful tropical fish, huge napoleon wrasses, harmless grey sharks, and sometimes even a manta ray.

Scuba Diving
Scuba diving in the tropical waters off Fakarava couldn't be easier: when the tide is even, simply dive into the warm water, sit yourself at the bottom of the reef pass, and watch the crowd of aquatic life cruise by, just like in a Paris café!

Fishing
The unspoiled waters off Fakarava atoll make for great fishing, which is available from the pontoon, or from a chartered boat for tuna, marlin, mahi-mahi or wahoo.
